FAQ

Where is your office located?

I’m at the following address:

525 Chestnut Street Suite 214  Cedarhurst, NY 11516

What’s the parking like there?

There’s metered parking in front of the building as well as in the parking lot next to the building.

How long are sessions?

The initial consultation is 60 minutes, and ongoing sessions are 45 minutes.

What should I expect in the first session?

The first session is focused on “getting to know you.” We will spend the majority of the session understanding what brought you in and the circumstances that you’re in.

We’ll talk about your current functioning as well as past experiences that may have contributed to your current state. We will also talk about what you hope to gain from therapy and what you can expect from therapy.

The first session is often the hardest, because it is new and unknown. Most clients report feeling a lot “lighter” when the session is over.

Do you take insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider, but I’m happy to provide a “superbill” each month for you to collect possible reimbursement benefits.

Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy service.

What is your fee?

Initial session: $275
Ongoing sessions: $250

For whom is therapy a good idea?

Most people can benefit from therapy. Whether you are struggling with interpersonal issues, emotional upheaval, or life changes, therapy can help you better understand the situation you are in and find ways to help improve your functioning.

What types of clients do you work with?

I work with young adults and adults.

What is your approach?

Therapy is different for each client, and one approach does not work for everyone.

After spending some time getting to know you and your areas of difficulty, I primarily use a combination of psychodynamic psychotherapy, Internal Family systems (IFS), cognitive strategies, and humor.

If you don’t know what any of this means, don’t worry! Therapy will still be effective!

Why shouldn’t I just take medicine?

While medication can be helpful and is sometimes necessary, it is not sufficient on its own.

Therapy can help you understand the root of the problem and help you develop skills to effectively manage your life and improve your overall functioning.

What are your professional qualifications?

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). In addition, I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, IFS, and psychodynamic psychotherapy.

How long have you been in practice?

I’ve been working as a therapist for the past 20+ years and enjoying (almost) all of it.

What do you enjoy about being a therapist?

I love helping people get to know themselves. It’s very satisfying to be a part of the insight and clarity that come along with therapy. It’s exciting each time a client has an “a-ha” moment. I love the REAL conversations and the deep and intriguing work.

What are your strengths as a therapist?

My clients appreciate that I’m very relatable and have an ability to connect. I like to think they also enjoy my humor!

What if I see you in public?

That is up to you. I do not greet clients in public unless they say “hi” first.

Is your furniture comfortable?

I hope so! No complaints so far.
